Shock! E-cigarette exports plunge 99%, Australian import ban works

Post time:2024-05-28

Recently, the General Administration of Customs of China released China's e-cigarette export data in April 2024. Although the volume of exports increased slightly by 3.58% year-on-year to 20,468 tons, the value of exports fell by 13.5% year-on-year to about $895 million, the data showed. The United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany and the Netherlands are the top five export destinations. Among them, the export value to the United States was 328 million US dollars, an increase of 6.89%.

Meanwhile, Stop Smoking and Health UK (ASH) has published the results of an annual survey on e-cigarette smoking in the UK. The figures show that while e-cigarette smoking among young people in the UK has stabilised, adult smoking has hit a record high, rising from 9% to 11% in 2023.

According to the survey, the proportion of British teenagers aged 11-17 who occasionally or regularly use e-cigarettes is 7.6%, the same as in 2023. But 17 percent of teens said they had used e-cigarettes. ASH said that while the growth in teen e-cigarette smoking appears to have slowed, it is still a significant increase from pre-pandemic levels. The agency is concerned about the extent to which 11-17 year olds are affected by e-cigarette advertising.
